Safe Crossing Day- Free family event!
All are welcome!

2009 from 10am-2pm
Safe Communities and the Chatham-Kent Children’s Safety Village are
partnering with CN to host Safe Crossing Day on Saturday, November 7th,
2009 from 10am-2pm. Families are invited to join us in celebrating CN’s
Safe Crossing Week by coming out to the Children’s Safety Village for a
day of fun, interactive, railway and road safety lessons taught by
safety professionals. CN Police Service along with ‘Obie’ the safety
train will be teaching rail safety, C-K Police Service will be
instructing youth on road and bicycle safety and the Public Health Unit
will be doing helmet fittings. Children must bring their helmets to
participate in the bicycle safety lessons.

Model Railroad Club and
Old King Coal RailWorks interactive
railroad display will be onsite. You can also expect special performances by the ‘Safety Squad’, an
appearance by 4 Seasons Driver Training mascot Keys, free goodie
bags and a free BBQ lunch.
This event is open to children of all ages and thanks a partnership with
Safe Communities Chatham-Kent and the generosity of CN, there is no
admission fee.

First Annual
Sparky, Elmer and Andy Safety Recognition Awards

The Chatham-Kent Children’s Safety Village is proud to announce
The First Annual Sparky, Elmer and Andy Safety Recognition Awards. This
is an opportunity to acknowledge the brave and courageous youth of
Chatham-Kent. Acts of heroism and good citizenship will be recognized.
Children that reside in Chatham-Kent who are in grades junior
kindergarten through to grade eight are eligible. Judging will be done
by the following safety professionals; the Chatham-Kent Police Services,
OPP, Chatham-Kent Fire Services, Chatham-Kent Paramedics Association,
and School Board Representatives. Winners of the safety
awards will receive a Sparky, Elmer and Andy Award Trophy and a citation
certificate signed by the Chatham-Kent Police Chief. Nominations are due
by Wednesday, March 25th, 2009. A special awards ceremony
will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2009 at the Children’s Safety
Village at C.M. Wilson Conservation Area.
